ORGANIZATIONAL STYLE

It is that time of year again-Farmers Markets.  The one in downtown Beloit is one of the best I have been to.  It starts every Saturday morning at 8 a.m. sharp.  Another interesting option I am looking into is www.farmigo.com.  This website connects you with local farmers that offer weekly produce.  You can even sign up for weekly deliveries-nice:)

In order to control the clutter in your children’s closet is to color code their hangers.  Each child gets a different color hanger for his or her clothes.  Add a storage cube with drawers and shoe cubbies in the center of the floor to maximize space.  Storage cubbies can also be added on the top of the closet for items that are used less often.  Finally, add a drop down rod.  This rod attaches to the closet rod and hangs down on decorative rope.  It allows you to have double the rod space for hanging storage.  All of these items are available at your local DIY store or stores like Target and Walmart.

Well, the garage sale is finally over.  Boy, it is a lot of work to host one.  I did have a fabulous time with my mom and good friend.  We met some interesting people-in a good way.  When the garage sale was finished we contacted a woman named Linda from Mom’s Angels.  This organization picks up items from your household and gives it to people in need.  She finds good homes for all of your things that you no longer want or need.  She does not charge to come pick things up and she does not charge the people she gives items too.  She is doing a real service to the Winnebago Community.  Thank you Linda for all of your hard work.  Her number is 815-979-0906 to find out more details:)

Well, I have successfully completed my first day at my garage sale.  It was a lot of fun-a lot of work too.  I promised Marcia I will never again test her love for me by asking her to help me with a garage sale:))))

Today is an exciting day for me.  I am having my first ever garage sale!  During my efforts of downsizing I have come to the realization my family and I really do not need all of this stuff!  So, with the support of my two soul sisters and mom I am going to add to my list of experiences today.  The address is 9865 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois at The Calibration Solution.  I am having it at the business my husband and I own rather than at my house.  It runs today, Thursday through Saturday 8 am to 5 pm.  I would love to me you!

What to do with all bed sheets?  My suggestion is to only keep one or two sets in the linen closet.  Fold the others and keep in a storage box under the bed they belong to.

Everyone has tons of pictures, especially if you have children.  An idea for current photos is to keep a decorative box or bowl in the family room with current photos of the kids or vacations.  This way everyone can look through them and enjoy.  When you add photos take some of the older ones out and put into an album.  I, myself, am a scrapbooker.  I have a small box for each of my children.  I place the photos is date order so when I scrapbook I know they are in the correct order.  For the photos that don’t make the cut to the scrapbook I place in a larger box in date order.  For example, my larger box has smaller dividers with the year on them.  This keeps my pictures organized and easy to access when I want to add more.

This is a trick I use in my bathroom to keep the towels neat.  Stack the towels according to size.  If you roll your wash clothes and small hand towels place those in a bin.  Stacking according to size will keep the towels from falling out of the closet because large towels are on top of small one.  I put my fresh washed towels on the bottom of the stack.  This allows me to rotate the use of my towels.  It also helps me to see which towels need to be replaced.

Here is a way I found to prevent nail polish caps from sticking.  Put a small dab of petroleum jelly on the inside of the cap.  This will keep the lid opening smoothly!

A client of mine gave me a great tip on laundry.  You know the little grease stains that appear on clothes from fabric softener or from food?  She told me to put a little bit of Dawn dish soap on it.  Rub the dish soap in and rinse under cold water and then launder as usual.  I tried it and it really works-great idea for an everyday product people have in theier home.  I would imagine any dish soap will work.  Her and I just both happen to use Dawn-Thanks Jane!!
